Dr. Mercedes Pérez-Bonilla received her PhD in Chemistry in 2008 (University of Jaén). She performed to stays in the Natural Product Chemistry Group of Dr. Teris van Beek in Wageningen University (The Netherlands), extending her expertise in hyphenated techniques: LC/MS, LC/NMR and HPLC – DAD – radical scavenging detection – SPE – NMR system.
In May 2014 she joined to Fundación MEDINA. Her work has been mainly focused on the dereplication of known compounds in natural products extracts, the isolation and structural elucidation of bioactive metabolites from several biological sources. Her skills include preparing extracts of microbial cultures, developing ad-hoc extractions, and employing chromatographic fractionation techniques. She has a wide expertise in dereplication of known compounds using LC/HRMS against internal and commercial databases as well as LC/HRMS metabolomic analysis.
She has published 20 articles, a book chapter, a patent, and has presented 22 communications to congresses.
