Krister Wennerberg, is a professor at the Biotech Research and Innovation Centre (BRIC) at University of Copenhagen since 2018. He received his PhD at Uppsala University, Sweden and his postdoctoral training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. After his postdoc, he worked at Cytoskeleton, Inc, Denver, CO, USA and Southern Research Institute, Birmingham, AL, USA and subsequently as a group leader for2010-2017 at the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM), University of Helsinki, Finland.
The research focus in Wennerberg’s group is to functionally and therapeutically stratify cancers to a) identify the signals that drive each individual cancer, b) understand how drug responses relate to their molecular features, and c) identify effective personalized drug combinations overcoming drug resistance. This is done by using high throughput approaches to study primary cancer cell models, their drug responses as well as genetic dependencies, and relate that to their molecular characteristics.
