Karlis Akis is the Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Technology Officer at NovaticLab, a leading company specializing in developing automation solutions for laboratories and hospitals. With a rich background in robotics and a passion for innovation, Karlis has been at the forefront of technological advancements since 2019.
Karlis co-founded a pioneering robotics startup in 2019, where he led the design of high-precision dispensing equipment that eliminates the need for air, significantly reducing waste, energy consumption, and improving accuracy. His dispensers are now utilized globally across diverse industries, including food, biotech, aerospace, and defense. Under his leadership, the startup built a world-class team and secured multiple patents.
In 2023, Karlis transitioned to JK Energo, rebranding it to NovaticLab. Since then, he has focused on automating a wide range of manual tasks in labs and hospitals. His notable projects include the NOVAFlex modular benchtop automation line and the NOVAMove mobile robot line. At NovaticLab, Karlis continues to build an exceptional team, with several patents pending for their innovative solutions.
Karlis is particularly impressed by the potential of artificial intelligence and is actively working towards implementing AI in NovaticLab's solutions, including machine vision and path planning. His technical expertise spans mechanical engineering and software development.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Karlis has a passion for motorsports, including motocross, supermoto, cars, and drift racing.
