Mr. Sunghyun Ki is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Chemistry at Incheon National University. He started his research career in 2018 as a graduate student (M.S course) and received an honorary award, the CAS Analytical Chemistry Award in 2019 Korea Chemical Society. His research aims to develop the platform technology for rapid and accurate monitoring of disease-related biomarkers using droplet microfluidics. Currently, he is interested in developing digital assays with droplet microfluidics for diagnosing infectious pathogens such as viruses, bacteria, and nucleic acids in a single-cell manner. At the SLAS 2023, he presented Tony B. Poster titled “Microcapsule-based digital analysis for rapid and accurate diagnostics.” At the SLAS Europe 2024, his presentation is titled “Integration of wide-field imaging system with droplet microfluidics for monitoring living bacteria” and will be introduced. In his research, the integration of droplet microfluidics and a wide-field imaging system allowed high-throughput and real-time quantification.
