PhD. in Molecular Biology (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) and Master in Management (IE Business School), with extensive experience in basic research and industry in the area of cell and gene therapy. Juan completed his doctoral thesis at the National Center for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC) in Madrid, where he specialized in the study of genomic instability of adult stem cells for clinical use.
Subsequently, he joined a spin-off of the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO) in Madrid, where he worked as senior scientist and R&D director. During these years Juan led the development, scale-up and validation of new analytical methods for clinical application and B2B models. During this same period, Juan participated in obtaining CLIA and ISO15189 certificates for the implementation of analytical assays as diagnostic tests.
Prior to joining VIVEbiotech, Juan worked at Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult (CGTC) in the UK, where he specialized in the development and automation of new methods for the characterization of cell and gene therapy products (ATMPS). During this period, Juan gained extensive experience in the implementation of quality control procedures, sample traceability and data integrity improvement through the use of LIMS and automation systems. Juan currently holds the position of analytical development manager at VIVEbiotech.
